Weekly Wrapper – 11/21/2016

Hello all!

We hope this email finds everyone well and WARM!!!  As we enter the holiday season, it never hurts to remind each other that there are increased parties and drinking this time of year.  Please be extra aware of those around you –especially those nuts in cages!

Speaking of parties; when you are done digesting the tryptophan from your turkey dinner, head over to the dealership for Final Friday!  Richie has plans for improvements at the Hut in 2017, should be exciting.  And it is time to shop!  The LOH is ready to address your Christmas wrapping needs starting Black Friday and every weekend before Christmas.  We will also have a bake sale.

The board is still soliciting nominations for Editor.  Larry Blakely will continue as our Safety Director in 2017.  If interested, please contact Bill Madison.

Also, if you are hankering for a fun overnight ride, see below and on our site for the overnight ride 12/3 and 12/4 to St. George’s Island that Road Captain Paul Parks is organizing.  If you want to stay in town, Road Captain Larry Blakely is planning a ride to Lakeland for the When Pigs Fly South event.

Please also find a note below from Jerry Umland, Activities Director…

Hello Cigar City Chapter members, it’s once again time for our annual Holiday Party and the detailed information is attached.  Our Holiday Party is an event that I am sure you will be talking about long after it is over because we always have a fun time, great food, drinks, laughs, music, dancing, and of course, a good number of holiday giveaways with our many drawings.  LOH will be selling 50/50 tickets and will also have a money tree raffle for those interested…yes, money does grow on trees – at least for this event.  If you have previously attended our Holiday Party then you have an idea as to what I’m talking about, but if you have not, we are hoping you will mark the date on your calendar and attend this one.

The most important element is for you to complete the attached form and send a check to the name and address on the form along with the number attending.  We hope you will do this as soon as possible so that Jerry can get the number of attendees to the Chef at Heritage Harbor so the correct amount of food can be order.  This count has to go to the Chef a week in advance, so that means Jerry has to have the attached form no later than December 10th.  Please, this cannot be over emphasized.

If you have any questions concerning this event, please feel free to contact Jerry at 813-892-2835 or email him at and he will assist you.

Wishing you and yours a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.  Ride Safe!  Denise

2016.09.08 Important 9-11 Ride Information – Please Read

Subject: Weekend 9-11 Rides

Fellow chapter members. We have two rides this weekend to commemorate a special but tragic day in our Nation’s history, 9-11-01. We have been asked by our sponsoring dealer to put as many bikes on these rides as possible. If you have the time and can ride, please do. If you have the time but cannot ride, please come out and assist with any pre-ride registrations and wave as the others leave.

Ride to the Ride
We will meet at Tampa HD and ride as a chapter to Brandon HD for event registration and kick off. Our chapter’s “ride” will end at Brandon HD, from there those wishing to participate in the “9th Annual 9-11 Patriot Day Observance and Remembrance Ride” may register (see chapter calendar for more details).

Meet at Tampa HD at 9:00 am. Kick stands up at 9:15 am

9-11 Memorials Ride
This is an “open” ride. Non Cigar City HOG members are encouraged to participate. The route will be kept as simple as possible to allow for the city traffic.

NPR HOG has committed to bringing a group and multiple riding groups have contacted us about participating.

*** We may need volunteers to assist with ride waivers and some Road Captains to spread through the group. Please see Larry or Barbara Blakely when you arrive to inquire about where help is needed. ***

This will be a short city ride to visit key 9-11 memorials in Tampa. We will drive by the memorial at the corner of Bay to Bay and Bayshore Blvds. Then visit the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s 9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial. After a brief stop we will continue to the Tampa Firefighter’s Museum (opening especially for our visit). Once we have concluded our museum visit anyone interested in staying together for lunch are welcome to continue to The Brick House.

Meet at Tampa HD at 9:30 am. Kick stands up shortly after 10:00 am
